Where to eat in Cannes

Ten addresses to avoid two Cannes traps: choosing only for the view, or only for the price. Both matter. So does the food, rather inconveniently.

Le Suquet and Cannes old harbour
MAMETAS SAYS

Cannes can be expensive. That is not the problem. The problem starts when the bill has had more thought than the cooking.

PRICE

€ easy on the wallet · €€ mid-range · €€€ expensive / occasion · €€€€ big night. Relative positioning.

Decide in 20 seconds

Local / bistro: Aux Bons Enfants (€€), La Table du Chef (€€), Côté Jardin (€€), L’Affable (€€). Modern: Le Pompon (€€), Table 22 (€€€). Seafood: Astoux et Brun (€€€). Stylish / lively: La Môme (€€€), Riviera (€€€€). Big night: La Palme d’Or (€€€€).

80 rue Meynadier · Forville

Aux Bons Enfants

€€ · Provençal · family-run

Best for: local cooking beside Forville Market.

A family house since 1935, now in its fourth generation, with local produce closely tied to the market. But: the house does not accept credit cards; bring cash or a cheque.

5 rue Jean Daumas

La Table du Chef

€€ · traditional / surprise menu · small dining room

Best for: a calm dinner built around a surprise menu.

Four blind courses shaped by the best current produce and local suppliers. But: you hand part of the decision to the chef. That is the concept.

12 avenue Saint-Louis

Côté Jardin by Steve Moracchini

€€ · traditional · terrace

Best for: lunch or dinner away from Croisette overstatement.

A compact dining room and terrace, with a 2026 daily menu listed at €27 by Cannes Tourism. But: less icon, more actual meal.

4 rue Émile Négrin

Le Pompon

€€ · modern · counter

Best for: small plates to share and a modern evening out without palace pricing.

A daily-changing board built around fresh market produce and a well-chosen wine list. But: more gourmet counter than Cannes institution.

5 rue Lafontaine

L’Affable

€€ · classic · polished bistro

Best for: classic French cooking driven by produce and the seasons.

Didier Chouteau keeps the cooking elegant and readable in a warm setting. But: no sea view to monetise on Instagram. A survivable tragedy.

22 rue Saint-Antoine · Le Suquet

Table 22 by Noël Mantel

€€€ · traditional / Mediterranean · elegant

Best for: a serious dinner in Le Suquet.

A more elaborate experience than the classic bistro, while staying rooted in the neighbourhood. But: budget for an occasion.

27 rue Félix Faure · Forville

Astoux et Brun

€€€ · seafood · busy institution

Best for: shellfish and crustaceans.

One of Cannes’ historic seafood houses. But: more institution than intimate date night.

6 rue Florian

La Môme

€€€ · Mediterranean · stylish / lively

Best for: when dinner also needs to be the night out.

The house deliberately leans into glamour, music and energy. But: if you want monastic silence, you have chosen the wrong film.

Carlton Cannes · Croisette

Riviera

€€€€ · Mediterranean brasserie · palace

Best for: a polished lunch or dinner with a view.

Seasonality, local sourcing and fresh catch on a terrace above the Croisette. But: go because you want the palace register.

Hôtel Martinez · Croisette

La Palme d’Or

€€€€ · fish / Mediterranean · fine dining

Best for: the Cannes big night.

Sea-driven cooking, raw or wood-grilled fish and a deliberately sunnier, less stiff fine-dining mood. But: time, budget and booking. Come on purpose.
