Who it suits
The Welcome Hotel is the obvious way to turn Villefranche from a beautiful day trip into an actual stay. Its value lies less in Nice-style efficiency than in waking up on the harbour and letting the bay become part of the trip.
The trade-off
For one or two nights, that can be a very good trade. For a week of constant Riviera day trips, Nice remains easier. Beauty and logistics are occasionally forced to negotiate.
