The Welcome Hotel is the obvious way to turn Villefranche from a beautiful day trip into an actual stay. Its value is not efficiency in the Nice sense. It is waking up on the harbour and letting the bay become part of the trip.
For one or two nights, that can be a very good trade. For a week of constant Riviera day trips, Nice remains easier. Beauty and logistics are occasionally forced to negotiate.
