A practical base near the station, without pretending that logistics are beneath the Riviera.
Hotel 66 is the sort of Nice address that makes sense when the city is your launch pad rather than the whole show. The appeal is straightforward: a central location, easy access to Nice-Ville and a room that does not require a sea-view surcharge to justify itself.
For a first trip without a car, that usefulness matters. Early train to Menton, late return from Antibes, airport transfer, dinner in the centre: fewer moving parts, more holiday.

The catch
The station side of central Nice is practical rather than romantic. Old Nice and the seafront are not outside the door; the railway, tram axis and easy departures are. If your trip is built around day trips, that is a very good trade. If every evening should begin by stepping straight into postcard Nice, choose farther south.
