Renoir Museum
Renoir came south for the light. He ended up finding an olive-tree estate where he spent his final years and kept painting.
Mametas CheckedPractical information rechecked 15 October 2026 · temporary closure ongoing
MAMETAS SAYS
This is not the Riviera’s most spectacular museum. That is part of the point: a house, a garden and a painter placed back inside the landscape that kept him here.
Why we go
The Collettes estate was Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s last home. It is worth visiting as much for the setting of his final years as for the works, objects, furniture and photographs kept there.
What to actually look at
The rooms, the studio and especially the garden with its century-old olive trees. The connection between painting and landscape becomes much less abstract here.
PRACTICAL
Time needed1 hour, garden included, once it reopens
When to goNot for now: closed until further notice since September 2026.
Pair it withHaut-de-Cagnes and its castle, on the neighbouring hill.
Hours & priceImportant: the Nice Côte d’Azur Tourist Office currently lists the Musée Renoir and its garden as temporarily closed until further notice, updated 10 September 2026. Do not build a day around it until that notice disappears

Pair it with Haut-de-Cagnes. From Nice, give it a proper half-day rather than treating it as a drive-by museum.
