Palais Lascaris

You can go in for the instruments. You may stay because the Baroque palace is perfectly capable of stealing the show.

MAMETAS SAYS

The easiest museum to fold into a wander through Old Nice: central, compact and distinctive enough not to feel like cultural homework.

Why we go

This 17th-century palace is one of Nice’s strongest Baroque interiors. It also houses a major collection of historic musical instruments, which gives you another reason to come beyond the painted ceilings.

What to actually look at

The monumental staircase, decorated salons and frescoes, then the instruments. Do not try to read everything: the place works mainly through atmosphere and sheer accumulation.
