Musée océanographique de Monaco
You can of course spend Monaco counting Ferraris. Or walk into a museum built into the cliff. Different ambitions.

MAMETAS SAYS
Not an art museum, but culturally it belongs here. The building is spectacular, the aquariums are substantial and Monaco’s oceanographic history gives the Rock more depth.
Why we go
Opened in 1910, the museum combines historic collections, marine science, aquariums and exhibitions. Its improbable position above the Mediterranean is part of the experience.
What to actually look at
The aquariums, obviously, but also the historic halls and architecture. The museum suggests around two hours. For once, do not try to “do Monaco” in 47 minutes.
