Asian Arts Museum

A free Kenzo Tange museum set on water near the airport. Nice occasionally has very efficient ways to fill an awkward final hour.

MAMETAS SAYS

Not a first-weekend essential. A very good choice, though, if you like architecture, have already seen the classics or have an inconvenient gap before a flight.

Why we go

The museum presents Asian art collections inside a building designed by Kenzo Tange. The interplay of square and circle, white marble and water gives the place a very distinctive presence.

What to actually look at

Start with the building, then move through the collections by cultural region. Its position beside Parc Phoenix and the airport makes it unusually practical as well.
